On 10/23/2016 Persi was unexpectedly attacked by another dog while on leash - although he sustained an injury to his Left eye the vet expects a full recovery when the stitches are removed. The next morning Persi was right back to himself again and hasn't seemd phased by only being able to use 1 eye currently.

Meet Persi!

He is a quirky, fun-loving guy that is so happy to be out of the shelter! Persi is a cute little guy who loves to have his back and hind legs scratched.

Persi is house-trained and is moderately good at performing a “sit”.

He walks very well on leash and takes treats extremely gently.

Recently he has started to show a lot of interest in playing with toys.  He makes funny little noises as he plays with his stuffed toys.

Persi came in to foster care a bit overweight, but has really turned a corner and already lost several pounds!

He has become quite a great walking companion and more and more often he has been running around the yard with his dog brothers!  Most of the time, Persi would rather play by himself or with humans, but he gets along great with other dogs and doesn’t mind having them around.

Persi does chase and bark at the cat in his foster home so a home without a feline companion may be best for him.  He doesn’t want to hurt the cat, but he is very preoccupied by the cat.

At the end of the day, Persi likes to curl up by his people and go to sleep. Persi needs someone that is willing to work with him on learning some manners, but he would be a great companion dog!

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
