Description:
Meet Harris He is about 16 lbs now and should be close to full grown. He is almost house trained. He has no issues with baths, nail trimmings, being brushed, etc. He walks well on a leash and does well in open spaces, like the dog park.
He picks up on routines quickly. He sits on command, sits automatically before being fed, comes when called (much of the time) and responds to "no". He is working on not jumping up on people. When told "no" he sits, but then is often so excited to see you that he begins to jump up again. We are working more on people not allowing him to do this as it's not a big deal to others because he is so small and light.
His very favorite thing to do is to get the big dogs to chase him. He loves it! He runs through the house or around the yard, zig-zagging and running circles.
He's great with the cats and is friendly with all of the people he meets when he is with the other dogs. He can still be unsure, at times, when he is not with them, but warms up in time. He will do best in a home with another dog.
He is a super fun little guy! His whole body shakes and wiggles in excitement when one gets home or even if he has not seen you for 5 minutes. He really enjoys cuddling up to the other dogs and with people.
He is still kenneled when we are not home or cannot watch him at all times. He is much happier in a larger wire kennel then in the plastic kennels where he can't see out as well. He does not go in the kennel independently, but does not fight to go in.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
