Meet Gemma

I love to go for walks and play outside! Once I get to know my human, I am a lover, I will curl right up in your lap and shower you with kisses.

I am crate trained and completely potty trained so my foster mom feels no need to crate me, but if you have the need, I am good with that as well! Please give me a second chance to be the dog that I know I can be!

Update from the foster home:

Gemma is a great houseguest! She gets along very well with the resident dog, a 55 pound lab/hound mix. There is no aggression over treats, food, toys, or attention from me. Gemma enjoys being chased around the yard, will sometimes play with a ball or a stuffed animal, and enjoys having a bone. She LOVES peanut butter!

She is generally a quiet girl, enjoys spending a lot of time out in the yard. Even alone and when it is chilly out! She likes to watch the world and sniff around, chasing squirrels and birds if they are in the yard. She WILL bark if other dogs or people are walking by the yard. In the house she is generally very quiet. When i get ready to go or come home from being out, she gets excited and vocalizes (not barking, but grumbling or grunting) and is very excited to have me home.

She sleeps at night in the bed, snuggled next to me. She would do ok in a crate, but it seems that she would like another dog or a person to be around most of the time. When left alone, she may cry. It is good to distract Gemma with a chew toy or bone so she gets busy with it and feels occupied.

She is a quiet, sweet girl who just likes to hang out and be part of your world.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
