Update from Tulip's foster mom:

Tulip is sweeeeeeeeet as can be! She is just a total lovebug. She is still very
timid/shy in new situations, but once she warms up she just wants to
snuggle snuggle snuggle and be with you at all times. I would recommend a home that
does not have very small/active children as she is still pretty scared of sudden
movements and lots of activity.

She is doing very well with her potty training, but will still need a little more
work. Because she's so eager to please, she responds very well to positive
reinforcement - she'll just need someone who can keep an eye on her to see when
she's giving signs so they can scoot her outside and have a praise party when she
goes. Once outside she goes right away; she's still learning how to tell me
she has to go out. She's a smart gal, and learns quickly.

She has become a little 'mini me' to my beagle - so she would probably enjoy one
other mellow dog in the house to show her the ropes, although I think she'd do well
as an only dog too, as she just wants to be with 'her person' at all times.

Over the past few weeks it has been SO fun to see her come out of her shell bit by
bit and watch her learn that she can just be a fun-loving little gal. She is
starting to play with squeaky toys, is a great fetcher, and the 'puppy' in her is
starting to come out - she wiggles and wiggles and wiggles that little butt when she
sees me, or at dinner time.  She looooooooves to lay in the sunshine, and chewy bones
are a big hit.

With that puppy confidence returning, she has gotten more curious and adventurous -
she needs to be properly secured (i.e. on leash/tether, no gaps in fences or gates,
she's a tiny little thing at just 11 lbs and can/will sneak through to go exploring
if you're not right there).

Tulip is so deserving of a loving home!! With a little patience she will get over
her fears of this 'big scary world' and show you what a happy little pup she is!

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
