Description:

Meet Pete aka "Sneaky Pete" (Because he snuck into our hearts)!

  • House trained and crate trained
  • Gets along great with other dogs both big and small
  • Is very respectful of the resident cat
  • Snuggling is his favorite thing in the whole wide world to do
  • Thinks toys and sticks and balls are awesome
  • He loves to go for walks and adventures

Pete is a funny, quirky little dude! He loves to race in sporadic loops around the yard...man is he fast! He is a total snuggler and burrowing under blankets is the most fun thing ever.

Update 12/1:

Pete is great with dogs of all sizes, big and small. He would enjoy a canine companion in his future home. He gets along well with the resident cat in his foster home - sometimes they play a game of chase.

Even though Pete loves everyone, small children can be unpredictable and envade his space. This frightens Pete, so a home with older, respectful children or just adults is recommended for this little guy.

Pete is housebroken and shows you when he needs to go outside. He is also crate-trained, although he is rarely crated in his foster home. He has a free reign of the kitchen and living room areas during the day while his foster parents are away (6-8 hours/day). Pete also has his canine foster brother keeping him company.

Pete is enthusiastic about walks and pulls a bit on a leash. He loves, loves, loves to run and would so appreciate having a fenced-in yard and regular visits to a dog park with his future family. And, if his future guardian likes to jog, Pete would gladly accompany him/her! Pete's other favorite things to do are play with toys chew on sticks, snuggle and run - oh, and eat - he would get really fat if his people are not careful.

Pete is working on commands like "sit" and "off". He is very food-motivated, so anyone willing to train him on more commands should have no problem if treates are used. Pete is a decent car rider, although he gets a little nervous.

Pete barks when appropriate - when the door bell rings, or the neighbor dogs come out and need to be greeted, or a little bit when he's excited and playing. None of it is excessive and Pete stops barking shortly. Pete makes silly noises when he wants attention.

If Pete gets carried away when playing, he may get a little mouthy, so we're teaching him to be gentle. He sometimes very gently nips ears and chins when snugglling

Pete is quirky and sweet and silly and loveable - a goofy pup really in the most appealing way!

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
