Meet Hunter!

A happy, handsome boy who is always ready for adventure! Hunter is 45 lbs. of pure love and playfulness. He's just the right size, with a big squishy head and a rock- solid muscular build. Hunter is eager to please and highly food motivated. He is an energetic guy who enjoys getting outside for a walk or playtime, but also enjoys relaxing on the couch for a nap or belly rub.

Hunter is well behaved when home alone and keeps himself entertained with chew toys. He will bark if someone comes to the door, but is normally pretty quiet. He is also well behaved on car rides. He tends to be a little shy/cautious when meeting new people, but usually warms up after just a few minutes. He generally likes other dogs, but is more selective/less comfortable with larger male dogs. He is house trained, however his ques to go outside are subtle. Since Hunter is a strong boy and absolutely loves chasing squirrels, basic training on loose leash walking would be helpful. He will jump when excited, so he would do best in a home without small children.

*Hunter did test positive for heartworm and will be receiving treatment provided by MARS to live a long healthy life.

*A dog with Heartworms is not directly contagious to other animals. Heartworms are transmitted by an infected mosquito.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
