AMAZING, TRUE STORY OF RESCUE!!Lucky's Story If Lucky could talk, he would most certainly tell you how petrified he was as he literally ran for his life- a cruel, torturous person hunting him down, rifle in hand, shooting at him. He would tell you about the fear that consumed him when he found himself completely entangled on a barbed wire fence as he desperately fought to escape his executioner. If Lucky could talk, he would want you to know that he thought he was going to DIE. The hours passed - day turned into night as he struggled to free himself. There he sat- ALONE AND SUFFERING! 2 days later- this boy was found! Literally on the brink of death! Cold, dehydrated, hungry and shaking! Completely bound in the razor sharp grip of a barbed wire fence. The flesh was ripped from his chest and several ribs were broken in his desperate fight to survive. BUT HE DID SURVIVE!!!!! And now you know why his name is "Lucky". His wounds have been treated, the pain that wracked his body, now managed. This boy has been through a harrowing ordeal and is just as loving, trusting and gentle as if he had never been mistreated. He truly is a survivor in every sense of the word. His loving, tender spirit unscathed! Lucky is very friendly and gets along ... NO...... LOVES everyone, including other dogs and cats. He is very sweet and amazingly, has never once gotten grumpy while his wounds are being cleaned, even though it is terribly painful for him. He has a beautiful, glossy, jet black coat with a whisper of white on his chest and two back feet that look like they were dipped in white paint! HE IS GORGEOUS... he looks like a baby bear! Lucky survived for a reason; surely he must be destined for something incredibly special in life. We are getting to know this boy and feel that he would be happiest in a home with another dog or two to play with and keep him busy. Lucky is really a social butterfly with other dogs and would do best if he could share his life with a canine companion. We are accepting adoption applications at this time. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.
