Hi Everyone!! I am the one and only Douglas!! I was saved by MARS from a local impound after being picked up as a stray as a lonely puppy. I’d rather not talk about that time of my life. Let’s talk about now, the happy times. I am an energetic, fun and curious puppy that only wants to pleaseI LOVE to be with people and other dogs, preferably my size or larger because I LOVE to play, and wrestle. I try to be a dominant fellow and have been around other dominant females that have put me in my place a time or two, I back off, but I am a persistent fellow and don’t give up.  I LOVE to swim in a puppy pool; I especially LOVE to chase tennis balls and bring them to my puppy pool and chase them in the water and splash. I am pretty sure my foster mom took some videos of it. She thinks I am a goof ball. I am also an excellent running/walking partner. I do really well on walks with a training collar.

I have three favorite words. They are “Is It Time?” which means DINNER!!!! This brings me to my next thing, the “crate.” I am crate trained. I spend my time in the crate when my foster mom is working. I’m not real fond of it but when she says those three magical words I run right to my crate. I don’t think I should give all my secrets up, but the other magical word is “Cookie.”

I also have some quirky habits. When I come out of my crate after a workday I am SOOOO excited that I must pick something up. Usually it’s a leash or a shoe. I also like to stick my face in the shoe a smell it... I know it’s weird, but I can’t help it. I also have a sock fetish. I steal socks. I can’t help that either, I love them.

On to the next….I am your typical bully boy, meaning…I am a stubborn fellow who needs someone who has bully experience and knows that I need constant training on boundaries and manners. I do know sit and stay with hand signals. I am also learning that I am not the pack leader, which means I am working with my foster mom on sitting and waiting for her. I would really benefit from a puppy training class to continue to help me grow into a better pup than I am right now. I have an incredibly high prey drive, so a house with cats or small dogs is not a good fit for me. Also, I do like kids, I get really excited over them, and after all I am a kid myself, but I would do better in a home that has larger kids. The smaller ones that are my height are just to fascinating for me and I tend to want to wrestle with them like I do with pups!

So, if you think you have room for a goofy, quirky, stubborn, snuggly puppy (I think I forgot to mention I am an excellent snuggler.) Then give me a shot, I won’t let you down.

P.S I have a little pout to my lip check it out.

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
