Meet Resi!

Resi is totally potty trained and crate trained.   He is friendly and LOVES to snuggle and cuddle.  He loves walks, treats and sitting on laps. He is very well housebroken and has not had even one accident in his foster mom's home. He doesn't mind being in his crate for long work days, but appreciates a walk when you get home. He does not bark while in his crate and goes in easily with a little help from a treat or two. He sleeps beside his foster mom's bedside in his own cozy bed and does not mind not being invited into the bed. He knows his basic commands and performs them very well.

He gets along with people and other girl dogs in his foster home (schnauzer, chi mix, beagle mix), although he probably would prefer to be the only dog in the household.  He particularly likes men!  His foster's senior parents stopped in yesterday and Resi ran right up to my dad and demanded pets and cuddles -- they really enjoyed sitting in the recliner together and snuggling up.

Resi needs a home without kids!   He would probably be ok with older kids (teens), but is just too nervous around the younger ones.  He does not do well with children as he doesn't seem to like too much noise, commotion or the unpredictability that children can bring to a home.

Once Resi gets to know you, he is your best friend and will follow you everywhere. Having a patient family who is willing to go at his pace will be important. He is sensitive to new people and barks at them, but gets over it and enjoys anyone who wants to give him love.   He doesn't like to be picked up, but will allow it once he knows you and if you only do so when necessary. If his new family is slow and steady and respectful with him, they will be completely taken by his sweetness and enjoy their new, furry and forever friend. As with any dog, it is important to show Resi human leadership and practice obedience training, so he learns what is and is not allowed and continues working on building good habits.

His barking is below average for a schnauzer -- just when someone comes over really.  He likes to ride in the car!   Resi is a great little guy who is ready for a forever home!

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
