Description:

Meet Dave!

Dave is an affectionate little guy that loves his people.  He can be a little reserved at first, but once he warms up he is very friendly.

Dave is
crate trained and housebroken.  He is very affectionate and LOVES his people. Dave loves to snuggle in during a movie or just simply hang out with his people. He loves to sleep with his people or in a bed nearby.  Dave is ok with individual visitors in the home, but does become nervous around bigger crowds. His foster family kennels him during such times so he feels safe and secure.

Dave is a mature gentleman and prefers to not be asked to play or roughhouse. He would be best with a mature person or family that are calm and not expecting or asking for a high level of interaction - more of a mellow environment where Dave would cuddle up to his humans and enjoy a quiet time together.

Dave does get along with cats and other dogs, but does not like to be around hyper dogs that get too excited. If they run and play too rough, Dave
becomes nervous and uncomfortable with them (or "the cattle dog in him COMES OUT").  Older dogs that lay around would be best  buds for him.

Dave does have a lot to say.  He will great you in the morning when you wake up, let you know it's time for his breakfast and will keep you warned of any activities inside or outside of the house that you should know about!  A home with no shared walls would be best for this little talker!

He walks well on leash, he doesn't run away when off the leash or loose in the yard.  Comes when he is called and really minds pretty well.  He is a barker but will settle down with a grasp of his collar and a firm "no".  Dave rides well in a car and was not scared of recent fireworks.

Who doesn't need a little black and tan love of their very own?!  Click the adopt button below and meet a great guy named Dave!

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
