Meet Blake!

Blake was found as a stray and never claimed at the shelter. Now he's entered the foster program at MARS and is patiently waiting for his new family to find him.

Blake is the sweetest guy and gets along with everyone, furry or human. He’s currently living with two other female dogs and they are all the best of buds.

Update from Blake's foster mom:

Very smart and quick to learn commands

He's already learned sit and shake
Has a very soft bite when given treats

Loves toys, bones or antlers

His foster family hasn’t noticed any destructive tendencies, but there are always lots of soft squeaky toys around for him to play with

Knows what “go potty” means and gets better with potty training every day
Kennel trained and has been left in his kennel for up to 6 hours without any accidents
Quiet and rarely barks
Did great with the little kids (1 and 4 yr old) over for the holidays and is fine with lots of people/commotion
He is not food aggressive with people or other dogs, but will rush to eat all of his dinner before anyone can come and steal it.

He’s putting on weight nicely, but could probably fill out a bit more.

He is the best snuggler, although he is somewhat of a bed hog.
Does best on a leash with a harness, but he could use some practice and always wants to sniff everything
He can be a drooler in the car, but he'll likely grow out of that as he gets older and has had more car rides

Blake is ready to find a home where he can get the love and attention he so deserves!

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
