SPECIAL ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS
Ashton is looking for a forever family. He is understandably shy at first. Starting out in a puppy mill is hard, but he's working to overcome and doing great. Ashton would do best in a home with a fenced yard, no small children, and a doggy friend (or friends) he can play with and sleep when he is kenneled. He is currently doing great in his foster home with 13 year olds. He would not do well in a townhouse or apartment with shared walls as he does like to alert bark when playing or seeing the bunnies outside. He also is excited when people get home to see him and likes to tell you.
Ashton is crate trained, he will go in the kennel without any issues. He kind of likes getting a treat for that though. Right now he is sleeping in his kennel at night with his doggy friend. He only barks in his kennel if he is alone. He also did well in the kennel alone if he was near his foster mom and could see her. He does bark a little when he hears someone coming to let him out of his kennel because he's pretty excited.
Ashton is doing great on potty training, and likes to go outside. He uses a puppy pad inside also though, and uses it when we miss his signals.
Ashton is still a little hesitant when reached for, but once he gets to know you, if you sit down he loves to jump up and snuggle with you on the couch or chair.
He is playful and likes toys and chew bones. We are starting to work on "sit", and he is very treat motivated.
He is just a sweet boy who needs someone who is patient and has room in their heart and home for this handsome little man.
When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
