Description:

Meet Lucas! This sweet boy is looking for a forever home that will spoil him and pamper him like the wonderful dog he is. Lucas is pretty much perfect...at least we think so! Only problem is his previous family gave him no medical attention and let him suffer with high grade luxating patellas ( is a condition in which the patella, or kneecap, dislocates or moves out of its normal location). in both back legs. He also has a cogenital defect that is affecting his front legs as well and they tend to bow. We are not doing surgery at this time. He is not in pain but may have issues with arthritis in the future and we recommend joint supplements for the rest of his life. This little guy does not let it get him down and can get around but would need to be brought up and down any stairs. He will need a family that is devoted to assisting him in having the best possible life. If there are hardwood floors we do recommend rubber runners to help him grip.

He does well with other dogs and cats. We would like a home with older children that are respectful and will give Lucas space.

Lucas will need to go to a home with a fenced in yard and another playful dog in the home. This allows him to stay extra active and keeping him active is important to his long term health.

Lucas is waiting for the perfect home. Until then MARS and his foster will keep him safe.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
