Meet Bernie!

Bernie is soaking up Summer in Minnesota! If he finds himself in a big grassy area he does zoomies all around! He is crate trained and does well while his foster owners are at work during the day but then he wants to play play play and hang out with you! He is house trained and knows not to go inside so as long as his owner pick up on his signals he is good!

Not unlike most young dogs, he has discovered a taste for expensive sandals but who can stay mad at that face! He lives with two other dogs. One large and one small. He plays with the smaller one and the larger one when invited. He has a little Terrier tenacity in him so he tries to be the boss of other dogs if he thinks he can.

He is a little tentative with new people but is too curious to be left out of the action for long. He likes his walks, sleeps through the night, and rides well in the car!

He is a cuddly boy whose ears often flip back giving him a silly but adorable appearance!

Bernie is a silly, sweet, loving little guy and because of his background, he’s got a few specific requests.

He’s also a bit of a “Velcro dog” and isn’t a fan of being left alone. He’s made progress, but it will take some time for him to gain confidence & independence. So he’d prefer a human who isn’t gone for long long hours at a time. He can also be vocal when left alone, so no shared walls for this little guy.

The trade off? Bernie is a sweet, silly, curious little bug who will love you unconditionally and snuggle with you any chance he gets.

He is doing GREAT with potty training - does his business outside and then wants to come right back in. He’s incredibly adorable and just wants to find the right forever home.... do you know someone who wants to give Bernie a last name??

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
