Meet Tucker!

Tucker came to MARS in August from a shelter in Ohio. His family was moving and they could only take one dog with them. Tucker was surrendered and 8/24 was Tucker’s lucky day. When Tuck arrived here, he had no front teeth, incisors only, that required removal. He also had an ulcer in his eye which also required multiple surgeries. Now that Tucker is healthy, he is ready to find a loving forever home that can provide the stability and support he so deserves. He now understands what unconditional love is given the wonderful foster homes he has been in so now, all he needs is a committed forever family.

Tucker is funny and kind and he minds pretty well. He follows his foster mom everywhere and he loves to hang out by her side, in a dog bed, on the floor or on the couch. He’s not fussy. He also loves to play with his toys and other dogs. The challenge with him is that he’s leash reactive which can be challenging when out for a walk in a public area. His foster mom ended up picking him up and he was very content with that solution. Now, she uses a gentle leader for him and they are working on controlling that behavior, which has been very effective.

Tuck can get over stimulated around too many dogs and small children, so his foster mom keeps him away from them or stays close to manage any upsets. Given he has no front teeth, he’s really not a threat but it can be scary when he jumps up to play. He is house trained, rides great in the car, not a barker and has no problems around cats. Kennels are not his thing.

Tucker likes adventure. He recently went for a bike ride with his foster dad - check out his picture riding in the backpack!

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
