GENTLE COMPANION-LOVES PEOPLE!

This little guy was dropped off at a vet's office to be euthanized as the owner could not afford to keep him. Instead, the vet had the owner surrender him to rescue so he could have a chance to be adopted. He was so matted, he needed to be completed shaved down but his coat is growing in quickly!

Hermes is a very sweet, docile and gentle boy with the most adorable "head tilt" when you talk to him! He adjusted to his foster family VERY quickly and just "rolls" with the pack! He is very inquisitive and loves to follow us around checking out our day-to-day tasks. Hermes loves cuddling on his foster sister's bed while she does her homework, or couch surfing while we watch tv. He gets along perfectly with other small, calm dogs and will engage in play with them or would be fine as an only pet. Hermes will amuse himself playing with squeaky toys or chewing bones and doesn't bother a thing! He is does well potting on a schedule and needs a little patience keeping an eye on him indoors - he is fine with a belly band when you can't fully watch him. Hermes sleeps well cuddled on the bed at night. He is SUPER excited about attention and very social and loves to crawl in your lap to be petted. Unlike a typical pom, he is not yippy - he has a lower pitched bark and only barks when he is upset you are leaving, excited when you get home or he can't find you in the house.

Hermes has luxating patellas that went untreated and surgical intervention is no longer an option. Because of this he is bowlegged in the back and does have a wobbly walk and difficulty on hard surfaces/stairs but he still runs and jumps in excitement, showing no signs of any pain/discomfort. He LOVES kids and would do well in a home with children that are respectful of his legs. He is a very special boy that just melts your heart and needs a bond with his very own human/family!

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
