Description:
Meet Treat! Treat is a sweet girl that had a rough start in life. In her foster home, she has been learning that people are safe and kind and she is starting to come out of her shell and overcome her fears. For now, Treat spends the majority of her day quietly lying in her open crate, where she knows she is safe. As she learns to trust us, we see her slowly gaining more confidence and wagging her tail when we come to greet her. Treat gets along well with our resident dog and is constantly looking to him for guidance. She would love to have a another dog in the house to show her what being part of a family looks like. We have not had any issues with her and our cat. Treat LOVES her food. We are confident that as she continues to gain trust in people this can be used for training. Since she came to us quite skittish, we have not started taking her for walks yet, but she likes to explore the fenced back yard where her hound nose works overtime! She has been pretty good around our free-range chickens, but as she gets more comfortable, we increase our vigilance as she is becoming more interested in giving them a good sniff! She seems to know to go to the bathroom outside, but we have had just a few accidents since she we haven't gotten to the point where we can read each other’s cues yet. Every day we see Treat make a little more progress, which is very rewarding. Treat would to well in a quiet home that can offer her kindness, consistency, and patience as she learns how great it is to be loved.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
