Description:
Meet Hope!

Hope came from a rural animal control facility that is full to the rim.  These dogs are being put to sleep faster than we can get them out.  We need to find forever homes to care for these dogs the way the deserve!

Hope is a very sweet and very lovable little girl. She absolutely adores attention and gives it back ten fold.  Won't you consider helping a girl in need?

Update: 05/30/2009

Hope is loving life in the big city today! She has spent one night in her foster home and they have fallen already! They are thrilled to be able to help, and be the ones to help, her become the great companion she will be. They know it will be hard to let go of such a sweet little girl, but know you are out there looking for her to become the next new member of your family forever!

On the drive home I was wondering about how I could give her up, but even though she continues to learn and be adorable in these first 12 hours, I know we're making a stronger, healthier, and better trained pup for someone"

Update: 06/08/2009

Hi Everyone,

A great weekend with "Veda" as we've come to call her (we just couldn't do 'Hope' personally).  She's learned to go up and down stairs without trepidation, is learning to sit/stay, and she's started training on how to walk on a leash.  She surely has a hunting instinct that distracts her when something (anything) is in sight, but she's really good on the leash when on task.  This is also with just her collar, no choke chain, haltie or harness.

She hung out with me for a long time yesterday while I gardened, finally getting used to having a bone to chew on and a yard to lay in.  She's getting used to car rides that always bring her home, and she's been left in her kennel for an hour while I had to be out, and she didn't whine at all.

She still has a bit of a cold that hits her most when she's excited, in the morning and at night.  It shakes her whole little body, but hopefully it will be gone soon with the medication given to us by the MARS vet.  She's been on fish oil supplements per suggestion of the same vet, to help with the major dandruff issue that made her itchy when she arrived.

She seems like she would work best with another dog as she has seemed a little more sad since our weekend house guests left with their two dogs.  Then again, she's not likely used to being without a slew of other dogs around.  She did really well in a house full of my family (including 8 nieces and nephews between the ages of 10 and 6 months!) and they all loved her.

From Her Loving Foster Home!

Why not take this opportunity to make a huge difference in the life of a sweet girl who needs some help?

Thank You!

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
