Meet Matty!

Handsome Matty is an incredibly friendly, and social creature. He has learned to "sit", "wait", to take treats nicely and to come when he is called.

Matty loves going for walks and is working on his leash manners, but has made huge improvements with it. He gets along with the resident dog and other dogs, once properly introduced.

He likes to be with people and loves to just sit or lay by someone while they pet him. He has also done well with children and smiles with anyone comes home.

Unfortunately Matty had the bad luck of having an owner that did not always take the best care of him, so he does have a limp in his hind leg due to arthritis from a previous femoral head fracture and and did tested positive for heartworm. He will be will be receiving treatment provided by MARS to live a long healthy life.

Matty is a very manageable 45 pounds, coat is in great shape. GSD’s are family dogs, and extremely loyal companions.

*A dog with Heartworms is not directly contagious to other animals. Heartworms are transmitted by an infected mosquito.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
