Buford's owner decided he was too old and could no longer hunt. Instead of giving him a soft bed and a loving retirement.... he brought him to a high kill shelter to wait in a concrete cell with little to no chance of ever finding a home.
This sweet boy deserves so much more!
Buford has arrived at MARS and it was clear he had not had medical care for awhile. Buford has been treated for an ear infection and is scheduled for a neuter and dental. He also tested positive for heartworm disease and will be undergoing treatment provided by MARS. (*heartworm is transmitted by infected mosquitos and is not contagious to other dogs through direct contact)
While determining the best course of action for this senior 14 year old, he still is a loving and friendly boy and his bloodwork and radiographs showed no other issues other than the heartworm disease so MARS is committed to treating him and giving him as long of a life as possible -he deserves it!
His foster home reports that he is a very loving little guy, loves to be petted, loves treats, gets along with all my dogs. He is house trained and crate trained.
We are looking for medical sponsors for this little guy. Just click on the donate button if you would like to donate towards his care. He will stay in his foster home getting all the love he can until a forever home is found for him.
