Meet Hidalgo!

Are you looking for:

  • Outgoing
  • Gentle
  • Toddler Ready
  • Housetrained
  • Crate Trained
  • Food Motivated

...then look no further!  Hidalgo is your buddy!

Hildago is a super friendly boy. He does great with the toddler in the home despite the loud noises and curious hands that come with little people, he is always the gentle giant.

He is perfectly house trained and loves to be in our fenced yard. He will only romp around a short while and then is tuckered out and wants to lay back down again.

He does great in his kennel at night and during the day. He does get a little upset if we all leave, but calms down after a quick minute.  (Who really likes good byes anyway?)

He is so friendly with everyone and every dog he has met. We don't have any cats but we imagine that he would be ok. But bunnies and small creatures are very interesting to him.

Hildago is ok on the leash but needs more training. The positive is that THIS BOY WILL WORK FOR TREATS. Super treat motivated so training him will be so easy

He does get frightened by thunder and lighting. He will bark when he is startled and needs a little extra pets during the storms. But if you are responsive, he calms down quite quickly. (Who among us doesn't yearn for a little TLC?)

His foster loves and adores him!  The resident Chi?  Not so much.  Otherwise he'd be home.

Hidalgo did test positive for heartworm and will be receiving treatment provided by MARS to live a long healthy life.

*A dog with Heartworms is not directly contagious to other animals. Heartworms are transmitted by an infected mosquito.

If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest.

We are a foster based rescue located in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. We do require adoptions to physically take place at our adoption center and do not provide transport of any of our animals. If you are not local to us we encourage you to look at rescues and shelters in your area as many animals are in need across the United States.

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
