Description:
Hi! My name is Arbor (aka Izzy). I am loving, cute and housetrained (although I am struggling with it during this cold snap). I am learning so much from my foster family. I am learning patience when it is treat time and when to come in from outside. I love to go for walks, but will pull a little when I get excited and want to see or smell something. We went on an adventure to Home Depot and I did great! I did not bark at other people or other dogs in the store. I appreciate sleeping with my people and I do not hog the bed. I sleep all night and will give you space, but sometimes like to have my body against yours. When you are sitting and watching TV, I will either sit on my doggie bed or lay alongside your lap. I am not a fan of sitting on your lap, but that could change as I learn to trust you. Speaking of trust, I have some trust issues and may seem nervous when I first meet you. I need you to give me a few days to learn to trust and appreciate you will be my people. I get along with the dogs in my family, but have not learned how to play with them yet. I play with toys and will get extremely excited and ZOOM around the house when you get home! I also get so excited when you get home that I seem vicious, show my teeth (I am smiling!) and nip at you, but that is just my excitement showing. My foster family is teaching me to be excited, but to sit and calm down when I get too excited and want to nip. I will also alert you to people at the door. That is the Chihuahua in me. I am a great security system! I am a slow eater and do not show protectiveness with food or toys. I will show some protectiveness over my people and need to be corrected when that happens. I need some boundaries, but am learning very quickly! I do GREAT in a car. If you give me a blanket or bed in the back seat, I settle in and love the ride. I would be great as a single dog in the household, but am fine with other dogs. Will you love me and give me my forever home? When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
