Description:
Meet me at IKEA! I'll be there on Saturday 8-29 from 3 to 5pm. Watch the video of my release! Betty came from a rural puppy mill. She had never lived a day of her life as a normal pet in a home, with the love and attention a pet deserves. It is possible she had never even been petted in her life. She was rescued from that terrible life, but now she needs a special family to help her learn what it is like to be a dog. Because Betty is from a rural breeder, she will probably not have been housetrained. She will also need help with socialization and adjusting to life in a home environment. Fenced yards and a home with other stable dogs to show them the ropes are best for dogs coming from this type of situation. Find out how rewarding it can be to teach this poor girl how to love and be loved! FOSTER UPDATE: Betty, is incredibly social. You would never guess this dog was from apuppy mill except that it's quite obvious she's nursed a number of litters. Even though Bassets are low to the ground, their bodies are longand she's quite good at counter surfing and she loves, loves, loves her food (which may be why she's a bit overweight!). She kennels well and would really love to go to obedience class -we feel she would do rather well! Betty will do some very light growling at my dogs occasionally to let them know that it's her couch or her stuff, typical female. They ignore her. Betty loves people and would be fine as an only dog or with other dogs. This happy go lucky girl would make a great addition to any family! Thank You! When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
