Meet Anastasia, she looks to be a boxer bulldog mix at a slim 62lbs she is full of life and joy! She has done well in play groups at the shelter. she was adopted and returned after 2 weeks because she kept leaving the home she was in being left outside in search of something...... We guess it is she wanted to come live in MN so she is on her way to MARS and needs a foster home or forever home that she will adore!

Here is her foster update: She's doing very well. The first day she was anxious (understandably) and pacing around and making sure she knew where I was but was comfortable after that initial day.
I do have a small dog in the home but keep them separate. Noted that Anastasia was not reactive when being barked at (by my dog).

I have not observed her bark yet, she only does a whimper/whine when sees other dogs/people. Seems to be out of curiosity. Does not pull on leash but sometimes briefly hopped around from excitement when she saw someone. Very alert and aware of her surroundings. She interacted with kids (7-8 yrs old) with no issues.

I work from home so have only left her unattended for a couple hours - I did crate her during this time. She is not crate-trained meaning she wouldn't go in willingly but seemed to do fine once she was in crate. She needs to be walked at least 15-20 minutes a couple times a day and then she is chill and sleeps around the house. She seems very smart and sweet!

*Anastasia did test positive for heartworm and will be receiving treatment provided by MARS to live a long healthy life.

*A dog with Heartworms is not directly contagious to other animals. Heartworms are transmitted by an infected mosquito.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
