Big Cheese is the most wonderful dog—I have NO idea how he was overlooked at his sending shelter! He's been great with our resident dog, young children (ages 3 & 6), and all other dogs he's met. He would fit so well into an active family or couple's home! He's a rare "dog dog" and "people dog"; friendly and cuddly with his hoomans, yet playful and social with other canine companions. Our resident dog can be pretty bossy/alpha (she resource guards toys & treats), and he has been great about respecting her space. He is gentle and not jumpy around our kids. He greets them with kisses and does not mind them being in his "bubble". He understands discipline and listens well if we correct him. He enjoys romping in the yard with our dog, playing fetch, and dog parks. I think he would be a great walking, running, or hiking buddy! We haven't had him on a leash too much, but he does tend to get zoomies at first. He can't help himself. The world is an exciting place! Big Cheese can take more time to warm up to any men in the house, but with patience and love, he will learn to trust them. He is one of the most amazing dogs we have fostered—an all around happy-go-lucky, loving, adorable, silly boy. He deserves the world, and you'll feel like you've gotten that in return if you bring him home.
When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
