Hello to my future family! My name is Betty Boop and I am so excited to meet you! I recently had a litter of 11 puppies and am ready to begin life without them! Foster mom says I am the easiest foster dog she has ever had (and she’s had a lot!) and have the perfect temperament for one lucky family. Now that the babies are gone (adopted or other fosters), my personality is really beginning to shine. I am a fun and frisky young lady (estimated around 1.5-2 years) and I always have a huge smile on my face. I currently live with three resident dogs (9 year old female Lab mix, 5 year old male Pittie mix, and 1 year old female Great Pyrenees mix). We also have one other foster, a 7 month old female Shepard mix. Foster mom is amazed at how calmly and quickly I was able to integrate with the other dogs. I know she appreciates that I don’t come in “hot,” but take my time to really get to know them before the playtime begins. When I am feeling super playful, I play with the younger dogs, but when I want to snuggle and cuddle, my go to is Henri (pittie mix). We are working on some training, but I have been learning a lot from the resident dogs. I am potty trained and can either hold it forever or will run to any door that leads outside. I am very regular in my potty habits! I am also comfortable in a kennel. I am not kenneled much here since I have earned free roaming rights, but I do still eat in my kennel and am kenneled when foster mom leaves the house. We have worked a lot on impulse control, and since I’ve been here, I now take treats nicely from a sit, wait at the door to be invited in/out, sit and wait for food, and have stopped jumping (99% of the time). I have a pretty good sit, down, and leave it’s, and am working on a few other things. It helps that my foster mom is a professional dog trainer and has been super patient with my learning process. When in doubt, a quick “uh uh” will stop me and get my attention. I absolutely LOVE toys. Seriously…any toy! My favorites are rope toys and taking the stuffing out of stuffed toys. I play a lot of tug with rope toys with the other dogs or with foster mom. Toys that keep me occupied are things like large nylabones, deer antlers and rope toys. I am also good at sharing toys, and don’t show any signs of guarding toys (or food or anything…now that the puppies are gone). Foster mom says I am the perfect candidate for a Super Chewer Bark Box! I love people! I will give you a big smile and a wiggle butt and be your best friend after a few treats as a hello. Foster mom says I am a master cuddler and very person focused. Even while playing with the other dogs, if foster mom leaves the room, I am going to follow her to make sure I don’t miss out! I don’t have any signs of separation anxiety…I just like to be near my human(s). In the beginning I would lay on top of her as much as possible, but now I have learned to snuggle at the side or cuddle in a dog bed near her. I will admit that I am being treated for heartworm. Luckily, we caught it early, so I don’t exhibit any signs. I am currently on medications and have my game plan all scheduled out! I am also scheduled for my spay in early August. Foster mom says the care is easy as long as the directions are followed, and that I am still the same loveable gal! Are you the family for me? Maybe you just want the ultimate cuddler (oh yeah, I love the cuddles!). I always have a happy face for my human, and just love to be near you! Foster mom says that she can tell that I just want to please the humans…get the cuddles…and eat all the treats! I would do great with any family, with or without other dogs. Fill out an app to meet me…you won’t be disappointed!
* I did test positive for heartworm and will be receiving treatment provided by MARS to live a long healthy life. *A dog with Heartworms is not directly contagious to other animals. Heartworms are transmitted by an infected mosquito. If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. We accept Credit cards, Debit cards as well as cash. At this time we do not accept checks. Our Adoption fees for all animals cover required vetting: which includes, Rabies, Distemper Vaccine Series, Bordetella, Deworming, Heartworm Test as age appropriate, Spay or Neuter and Microchip and registration. *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person! If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.
*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
