Description:

This poor guy was found in an outdoor chain-link kennel behind a foreclosed house that had been empty for years.
A neighbor noticed him in the kennel and started keeping an eye out to see if anyone was taking care of him.
Since he was left without food, water or shelter the kind neighbor (despite his allergies to dogs) started providing those things.
Animal control was called out on two occasions and was unable to make contact with anyone at the residence.
After confirming with the city that the house was un-inhabited the dog was impounded by animal control. Now this poor guy
needs to get into a caring, loving home.

He is an extremely friendly boy.  Estimated to be between 1-2 years old. He hasn't met a
person yet whom he considers a stranger.  He approaches everyone with a wagging tail and plenty of kisses.
He doesn't appear to have had much training previously but he will sit for treats.  Despite
his lack of training he is food motivated and very eager to please.  He has a high toy drive
and a natural instinct to retrieve.  He is very high energy and needs to go to foster
with enough experience to channel all of his energy.  He also needs to be taught
basic manners because he doesn't currently have any. He needs a fenced yard. He gets along well with other
playful dogs and would do best with another dog around. He ignores cats.
He was very under weight when he was impounded and has significant hair loss
around his eyes. A skin scraping has shown no mites or other skin conditions, so the hair loss
is attributed to lack of nutrition.

This guy was left behind like he was trash. Now he needs someone to commit to giving him the
life every loyal, loving dog deserves.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
