Description:

FOXY IS LOOKING FOR A PERSON SHE CAN LOVE AND TRUST- IN A QUIET HOME WITHOUT COMMOTION

Foxy is an 20 month old female Pom. She came to us from am Amish puppy mill in eastern Wisconsin.

Foxy loves to sleep in bed with her humans and animal house mates. When she wakes up she waggles her tail and scoots around in circles in the bed to say good morning. In foster care she's carried from the bed to 'outside' to potty just like a puppy learning its
house training! Foxy's not yet comfortable on a leash although she'd adjusted fabulously to wearing a collar and tag! No doubt she'll achieve that comfort level and walk outside to potty, but at this point I baby her and carry her out (also assures no accidents on the way). In being babied, she's also being fed canned food, seeming not to recognize kibble/dry food, as food at all.

Her favorite spot is in a corner of the love seat, and a second choice is on the floor in a corner made by an ottoman and a wall. As
a puppy mill survivor, probability is that Foxy will always be most comfortable when she feels protected by physical space. She's not a girl who'll ever sit in the middle of a room and relax. She shrieks if caused to be alone when your home - there's no separating this girl from her loved ones and fur mates. She's very much a contact soul, wanting to be touched and in contact with you.

Foxy will be looking for a home which has another dog, or a dog friendly cat, and who's humans want to love and snuggle her as well as allow her to adjust delicately to this new social world. Time to spend with Foxy is imperative to her successful transition from a mill girl, to a trusting family pet. Invisible fences; choke collars, electric collars, pinch collars, - any fear/pain based training/behavior management is although never a good thing, is absolutely out of the question for this little girl.
a human who can most often be home, and a home within driving distance of Minneapolis/St Paul. A home visit is a required pre screening step. Meeting a foster dog in its foster home area is also a necessity .

Foxy is not yet comfortable with everyone but with time we will help her feel safe, perhaps for the first time. Are you the one she can trust and love?

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
