Meet Scruffy,
Scruffy is one of the SWEETEST dogs I've ever met! He would be a fabulous therapy dog or resident dog in a nursing home or anywhere that there are people needing a furry hug! Scruffy does have anxiety when left alone so would do best in a home where someone is home more often. He is a perfect dog otherwise -110% housetrained and walks beautifully on a leash. Scruffy gets along just fine with the cats and dogs in his foster home... although his first love is for people -people of any age or size! We thought Scruffy had a luxating patella and would need to have knee surgery as he was not putting full weight on his back right leg...turns out he had been SHOT in the leg. A 22 caliber hollow point buckshot was found by his knee. It had worked its way to the surface of the skin and was obviously causing him a bit of discomfort! Scruffy is now "bullet free" and feeling much better! He is already putting weight on his leg and is looking forward to some long walks in no time! *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
