This boy is very friendly and social. He walks nicely on
leash without pulling. He knows “sit” and “shake” on cue, and
takes treats gently. He is a perfect gentleman!!

Update from Arthur's foster Mom:
First I have to let you Arthur doesn't fit him for a name.  So I renamed him  Jesse and he seems to respond it.  He is a wonderful boy, very laid back.   He is a dream to have in the house.  He listens well, knows sit, down, off, shake, wait ,takes treats very gently and walks well on a leash.  He is housetrained and crate trained. Goes into his crate without any problems and is quiet.  He gets along with my dogs well, even the Shelties, who can be a bit annoying!!  He seems to be a submissive dog with other dogs.  He likes to play with toys and balls are his favorite.  He loves to go for walks too!

Update from his foster mom:
Arthur aka Jesse is a beautiful male German Shepherd that is waiting for his forever home. I can't say enough good things about this boy.    Jesse is a very mellow guy who just wants to be with his family. He can be a couch poato, but also loves to go for walks and car rides.  He is a very smart boy knows alot of commands and also has figured out how to open the gate between the kitchen and dining room.  Jesse and his new friend Kaley (German Shepherd) love to play with one another.  They run and run  and have a wonderful time.  If you  are looking for a wonderful  companion for you and your family.  Jesse is the boy for you.

Update from Arthurs foster mom:
Arthur (Jesse) went to class tonight.  Jesse did really well.  Someone spent alot of time training him.  Jesse and I will be going to classes while he is with me. I think it is good for him to be around other dogs beside mine.

Update from ARthurs adopter:
I can't even begin to tell you how impressed I am with our new family member...what a good boy he is!  We've shifted gears on a name since my brothers name is also Jesse :-) We went with Jaxson and thought we should keep it somewhat similar to his foster name and he's been responding to it.  He's adjusted so well and I imagine its all the attention and love from the kids and all the neighbors who've welcomed him :)

He's met the lab next door (Oscar) and runs around the back yard daily with him and has done exceptionally well learning not to bark at other dogs while we're out walking.  He did take out the baby gate trying to get at the cat (to be expected) but the cat is now at his new home so we're in the clear of that temptation :)

All in all, he's been nothing short of perfect!  And I sure hope your next pooch is as good as this guy :)

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
