JUST LOOK AT THAT FACE!

Meet Woody!

Woody was currently sitting in a yucky concrete jail cell with no idea how he got there. More than likely, Woody followed those yummy food smells and lost his way. Sadly, no one ever came to claim him and there he sat, confused and alone........Can ya blame a guy for being a sucker for lovin' them tasty smells??

Woody now has a wonderful foster home to care for him and he is waiting to find his new FOREVER home.

An Update from Woody's Foster Mom:

Woody is very laid back fellow. He does things at his own pace and loves to snuggle. He is perfect for an older couple or a single person. He will follow you around anywhere. He has that beautiful beagle smile and loves to go for car rides and walks. He never pulls on the leash and will go for long slow walks. He listens well and rarely needs to be leashed because he is so laid back and relaxed. Also, he is not a barker, I think I have heard him bark twice in the 3 weeks I have had him. Every once and a while he does not like to come when I call so when I go to get him he does the cutest thing...he will lay his front side down while keeping his back side in the
air and submit to you. It is so cute it is hard to be mad at him because he has the cutest expressions.

Woody has been on an all veggie diet to help him lose some of the extra pounds he is carrying. His new home will need to help him continue this battle. He is a garbage hound as well so you have to watch any food being left out or scraps in the garbage.

Woody sleeps on the dog bed next to me every night and he tends to snore a lot. A lot of this is attributable to his weight. Woody is a very low energy dog. He sleeps about 18 out every 24 hours. He is house trained but you have to take him out on a regular schedule because he doesn't really give you any signs that he does have to go out.

He has been such a pleasure to have in our home. He lives with a Kitty and another male dog and loves both of them. He travels to the cabin with us and meets the entire family's other dogs and is well socialized in a pack of dogs. We have labs, cockers, and shitzu's, and he gets along well with all. He has captured the hearts of all the family members and the office staff. He has a couple of nick names "Wood Man", "Hollywoody", and "Chunk-a-dunk" which he responds to all.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
