Description:

Meet Lolita!  She is a two year old, SHOW STOPPING , Blonde Belgian Malinois!

This girl has looks, drive and intelligence.  She is great with kids and dogs.  She LOVES her humans and wants nothing more in this world than to please her humans.  She also LOVES car rides.

Her family works long hours and she would remain crated for such a long time that they felt a home with a more active family would be a good fit!

Here is a bit of information on Lolita's breed from DogBreedInfo.com.  If you are not familiar with the breed, please read this when considering Lolita.   Malinois are a very special breed with very specific requirements for their homes:

The Belgian Malinois is high energy, with a high mental capacity, and is quick to comprehend. It needs a job to do, especially if you are dealing with working lines.  A very bright and obedient dog, it is determined and observant with strong protective and territorial instincts. The Belgian Malinois needs an experienced owner who displays a confident, natural authority . Consistent rules must be set and made clear. They are ever watchful, alert and loyal. This breed needs to be part of the family and not locked up in a kennel. They need leadership, daily exercise along with training and companionship, for without it they may  become destructive and hard to handle.  Take care when introducing this dog with small non-canine pets . It can be rather dominant toward other dogs and need an owner who can communicate to the dog that dominance is an unwanted behavior. The Belgian Malinois may instinctively display herding behavior such as chasing and circling, moving effortlessly for hours and nipping at people's heels. They must be taught not to do this to people.

UPDATE FROM LOLA'S ADOPTERS 2/18/14:

I am happy to report that Lola is doing Awesome! She has been a wonderful addition to our family and has fit right in.  She is so LOVED! She is doing extremely well. Lola has gained weight and her ribs no longer stick out.  She now gets along with our other dog Rugby and they enjoy spending time with each other. Lola rarely gets crated during the day and is thriving with us. She is a total love bug and loves to play and enjoys her time watching after the kids and keeping my husband and I company. She enjoys being read to by our older girls and likes to play fun games of keep away with our son.  There is never a dull moment at our house...it is go go go! Lola seems to be extremely comfortable here and knows we are her people. Thanks for trusting us with this wonderful dog. She is wonderful!

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
