Meet Alita!

Alita is a shy little girl that needs a patient owner to work with her and give her time to trust. She will be terrified the first day she is in a new home... but by the second day, she will be sleeping on your pillow and wanting to share your lap!

Alita is very good at walking on a leash and is good with housetraining on a schedule (and when temps are above zero!) She is very smart and learned to "shake" in a matter or minutes! A quieter home with no kids is recommended for her at this time. She is VERY unsure of cats and will bark hystericaly at them.

UPDATE FROM ALITA'S TRIP UP NORTH:
Alita is now cabin ready! She experienced many new sights, sounds, & smells and handled them all pretty good! Boating traffic, a hydroplane landing, campfire building,...even a noisy thunderstorm couldn't frighten this girl away! She kept a close eye on us but let her guard down enough to enjoy sunning herself on the dock! We hung out on the pontoon for a bit one day but didn't leave the dock. She had fun checking out the pontoon layout but kept trotting back & forth between the motor & controls and the seats (peering over the edge) as if she was trying to figure out why we weren't moving! She was happy to get back home to her usual routine but she will no doubt have more things to dream about now! Her world is expanding!

We continue to take her to training classes to get her used to strangers. She is better than when she first came into the rescue and we are confident that she will keep growing.

She is so sweet, loving, and playful with her people once she accepts them - we hope that someone will fall in love with her pictures and video and take a chance on her!

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
