Meet Scarlett!

“Arf! I’m Scarlett (aka- Stella)! As you may have already noticed from my pictures, I’m pretty cute. My foster mom tells me all the time that I’m the cutest dog ever! I love going on walks. While I pull a little on the leash (simply because I’m so excited to get out of the house and explore), my foster mom is working with me on this and a gentle-lead or walking harness can help correct this behavior.

I’m not a vocal dog and tend to be submissive when meeting strangers and other dogs. Speaking of other dogs, I currently live with my foster brother (60lb male lab mix) and we get along great! During the day (approx.. 8am-4pm ) we are in crates while my foster mom is at work. I haven’t had any accidents in my crate or in the home, which my foster mom is very appreciative of.

Dogs are not allowed on furniture but sometimes my foster mom can’t refuse my cuteness and lets me cuddle with her on the couch, otherwise I cuddle up next to my foster brother on the floor. When its time for bed, I sleep on the floor next to my foster moms bed and stay quiet until she gets up for the day.

While I enjoy playing with toys I would much rather be with my person and interacting with them. I’m not aggressive towards others when it comes to toys, food or strangers. Overall I’m a small compact dog with a big heart looking for my fur-ever family and home. Arf!”

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
