Meet Winn Dixie!

This little girl was wandering alone until she ended up on a nice lady's porch. That lady took Winn Dixie in and tried to find her owner. No one came to claim little Winn Dixie. We don't know what scary things she saw while she was lost, so she is learning to trust again. In that lady's house, she was good with dogs and kids.

Update from the current foster:

Winn Dixie is a very loving and sweet girl. She is very smart / trainable: so far she has learned shake, high-five, lay down and sit. Once she settles in and starts to trust, she becomes playful & affectionate.

Winn Dixie loves using her paws; she will even put her paw in your hand like she is trying to hold hands. All she does is try to please you , she adapts to whatever you are doing, being active or watching TV.

She is a great dog. Very affectionate. Also, Dixie is playful does not always know that the other dogs in the house are much smaller. She plays a little rough for them. She doesn't know her own strength, but it's all very playful energy, very friendly. If Dixie is adopted as a second dog in the house, it is best that the resident dog is not smaller than her. She is also good with cats.

Update 3/3/2015:

Winn Dixie has settled in nicely at her foster home and is no longer acting shy. She is great with kids and adult men and women. Being a smart girl, she learns fast.

She would love a fenced-in yard in her forever home because she loves to run like the wind and burn off her energy. Winn Dixie has a sweet personality and obeys commands.

Winn Dixie would love to be a part of an active family where she can play with humans or canines. She likes to stay busy and have a plenty of dog chew toys around so she doesn't start chewing on anything that doesn't belong to her.

Winn Dixie is a quintessential family dog and would love to find her forever family very soon!

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
