Meet Thomas!

He is a laid back, friendly Beagle mix guy who is hoping to find a nice person or family to call his own.

Update from the foster home:

Thomas (being called Toby) is a well-mannered sweetheart. He has obviously been well-cared for in his life. He completely understands house life, is 100% house-trained, and has only barked while outside. He has no need of a crate during the night or during the day while we are away. He just appreciates a soft place to curl up to sleep or to wait for the humans to return. He is really friendly towards humans and dogs, and his favorite thing is a good belly rub or scratch on head/back! Check out the picture of how he enjoys his scratch so much he closes his eyes and smiles. If you are looking for a laid-back, low maintenance, easy-to-please, house-trained companion for your family - Toby is your guy!

Don't let the age and chubbiness fool you! Toby has a youthful spirit and likes to play like any other dog. He plays with toys, chews on antlers and bones, and will wrestle with the younger pups (check out the video below). He does great on walks - his tail never stops wagging, he loves sniffing, and he has no problem with longer walks. He also loves the dog park - especially the sniffing part, but also likes to be friendly with other dogs and people.

Toby would do best in a home without cats, has no problem managing steps, and would likely prefer a fenced in yard just so that he has more freedom for sniffing and doing his business. He would be fine as an only dog, if his humans weren't gone every day for long days - such as a retired person who wants a great companion, or a stay-at-home parent with some children looking for a snuggly storytime-buddy or an esteemed tea party guest. He would also do great as a second dog, and then wouldn't mind being home without his humans for longer periods. He would be a great "fun uncle" to a young dog - he would definitely play, but would also have a very calming influence on an energetic pup.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS. We do not transport to potential adopters.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
