Operation: Save MARS — You Made It Happen
 

In June 2025, we reached out with urgency—facing a $100,000 gap to keep our mission and nonprofit vet clinic alive.

And you didn’t just answer the call… you blew it out of the water. 

Final Total Raised: $103,177.85

Thanks to our incredible MARS community—new friends, longtime supporters, and generous partners like Abby Jimenez and Midwestern Mom—we secured a lifeline. Your donations kept our doors open and our mission moving forward. 

We are deeply grateful. And we’re not done yet.

 What This Campaign Means 

Operation: Save MARS was never about a single moment. It was a rallying cry to protect the life-saving work happening every day at MARS—and to build a more sustainable, self-sufficient future for our rescue.

These funds have helped us: 

  • Maintain staffing at our nonprofit veterinary clinic
  • Provide care for animals in crisis
  • Keep fosters and adopters supported
  • Stabilize immediate operations while we plan for long-term impact

But rescue never rests. The need continues. So does our commitment to transparency, sustainability, and community.

  • More vetting, healing, and care for pets in need

MARS needs YOU.
 
Recently, we’ve been really excited in sharing great news with you – we hired a vet and his team! We’re thrilled to be able to serve the community, and pets more than we ever have. However, leading up to this very exciting time has been incredibly trying and we need help. (click here visit our Vet Clinic website!)
 
We’re in a serious financial emergency — and we can’t overcome it without help. The last 5 years have thrown a lot at us, and it’s been a struggle. Since starting this campaign in March, we are appreciative of our community and their generosity so far, donations are down Nationally. Inflation, and just life in general, can cause that. We experience it right along with you. Donate a little (or a lot!), and launch a fundraiser with us!
 
We have the team - but we need the financial assistance while they build the clinic and make it possible to help all community pets as well as rescue pets. We will be self-sustaining again, but we need your help to get there.

Mission: Your Help; Their Future

"We are in financial hardship, without your help, we will not be able to continue our mission."

The rising cost of vet supplies, the larger medical cases that require specialty care, increased boarding costs, the list goes on. The animal welfare system is in serious trouble. MARS has been able to navigate these ups and downs for 18 years without needing a huge influx of financial donations, these last few years have been especially brutal. Adoptions and our very slim margins with the vet clinic can no longer carry the rescue alone. We have always prided ourselves in having 87 cents of every dollar going back into the mission, which is above the nonprofit standard of 50 cents. We still believe that is how rescue should work.

In this uncertain time, where surrenders are daily, fosters are limited, and people are concerned about adopting not knowing their own financial futures, this leaves the animals in their most vulnerable state EVER.

To combat this, MARS needs financial help! We don’t qualify for most grants since we are considered a small organization. A one doctor practice is not practical any longer as the needs are larger than one vet can handle. The goal has and is to provide low cost veterinary services, training, and pet supplies to help pet owners keep animals healthy and in their loving homes.
