Description:
Foster Update!
Ash is a doll! Such a sweet & happy pup. Even with some hard beginnings, this little beauty has really come out of his shell. He and his brother were dumped at a shelter with their mother. His mother went kennel crazy and attacked the pups, which made them a bit scared and nervous, which was the pup we saw with Ash first arrived. Not anymore! Ash bounces around the house like any other puppy now! We know Ash's mother was a black German Shepherd, and we are guessing his dad was some sort of terrier or another small/medium breed. Weighing in at about 20 lbs, so far he looks like a small German Shepherd. He has been well socialized with all of the neighbor kids as well as many adults. He is still a bit hesitant with some strangers, but has really come around. He will need owners that will continue to socialize him and will help him understand nothing will ever hurt him again. He has a great puppy energy but is not overly hyperactive. He is a really well balanced pup. Ash lives with 2 teenagers, 3 dogs of varying sizes and 2 cats and gets along great with everyone. He is 98% house trained, and just needs a watchful eye as he is still a puppy and hasn't figured out how to signal us that he needs to go out. But as long as someone is taking him out every 3-4 hours he will be accident free! He is also crate trained and sleeps in his crate quietly through the night. He walks nicely on a leash and has learned Sit, Lay Down, Shake & High-5 in a very short amount of time. He is learning how to fetch toys and bring them back with the help of his foster brother. He does need a lot of chew toys, as he is teething, otherwise kiss your slippers goodbye. He has a stellar personality and is a real love bug. He would make a great addition to your family so click that little adoption application button below to start the process of bring Ash home today!

Poor Ash was dumped at an overflowing shelter with his mom and siblings. His mom went kennel crazy while at the shelter and attacked her puppies. Ash came to us scared and unsure of things. He is a very small boy at only about 20 pounds even though his mom was a purebred black German Shepherd. We are thinking daddy was some type of terrier. Ash will need a family to love him and take it slow with him. His foster family says he is doing well in his kennel and no longer crying. He is working on his housetraining and socialization. He is living with 2 young girls that are helping him come out of his shell. Ash is a special boy that needs a family that has a big heart and understanding of what has happened in his past. Ash will be waiting for your application!

Please click on ADOPT if you can give him the home he deserves.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters.

How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.

Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed.

If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history.
