Bambi’s Story: A Tiny Kitten, Emergency Surgery, and a Second Chance
Bambi was only 9 weeks old when something went terribly wrong.
She was sick, uncomfortable, and needed help fast. Testing showed that something was blocking her digestive tract — and waiting wasn’t an option.
At 11 p.m., Bambi went into emergency surgery.
She was tiny. The situation was serious. But she had a whole team fighting for her.
During surgery, the foreign material causing the blockage was removed. Then came the waiting, the healing, and all the hope that this little kitten would bounce back.
And she did.
One little kitten. A whole community behind her.
When we shared Bambi’s emergency with our MARS community, people showed up.
You donated. You shared her story. You sent love to a kitten you had never even met.
Her final veterinary bill came to $2,880 — care we were able to say yes to because people like you make it possible.
That support meant Bambi didn’t have to face her emergency alone.
It meant she got her surgery.
It meant she got to heal.
And, most importantly, it meant she got the chance to grow up.
After emergency surgery, Bambi began to bounce back.
On July 22, Bambi went home.
No more emergency surgery. No more scary nights.
Just a kitten getting to do what kittens are supposed to do: play, grow, cause a little trouble, and be loved.
Bambi’s story is one of thousands that have made up 20 years of MARS.
Sometimes saying yes means routine care. Sometimes it means opening a foster home. And sometimes, at 11 o’clock at night, it means doing everything possible to save one very small life.
Because of this community, we can keep saying yes.
And because you said yes to Bambi, she gets the rest of her story.
