Our Impact

A look at how Midwest Animal Rescue & Services has grown, what your support has made possible, and how we’re building for the future.

At Midwest Animal Rescue & Services, a foster-based animal rescue in Minnesota, impact is more than a number.

It’s an animal receiving the care they need.
It’s a foster opening their home.
It’s an adopter saying yes.
It’s a community choosing to show up—again and again.

Over the past two fiscal years, MARS has focused on building a stronger foundation, expanding capacity, and growing in ways that support both rescue animals and the people who care for them.

This page offers a snapshot of that work, along with access to our annual reports and Form 990s.

Our Story of Growth

FY23-24: A Year of Foundation

FY23–24 was about finding our footing and building stability.

We focused on strengthening our team, supporting animals already in our care, maintaining community presence, and making intentional investments that would allow future growth to happen responsibly.

FY24-25: A Year of Growth

FY24–25 was the year those early investments began turning into action.

We expanded our veterinary capacity, strengthened operations, continued building community support, and invested in the systems, staffing, and infrastructure needed to meet growing demand.

FY25-26: Strengthening What We've Built

If the past two years were about building and growing, this year is about strengthening what we’ve created.

We’re focused on making sure MARS isn’t just expanding—but doing so in a way that is sustainable, efficient, and built to last.

FY25-26 Snapshot

What We're Building

This year, our work is focused on strengthening the foundation behind everything we do.

Not all of that work is visible from the outside—but it matters deeply.
It’s what allows us to care well, grow responsibly, and continue showing up for animals and the people who love them.

Where We're Focused

  • Strengthening systems and internal processes

  • Continuing to grow veterinary services and capacity

  • Improving communication and connection with our community

  • Building a more efficient, sustainable operational model

What That Looks Like

  • Implementing improved software and tools across our organization

  • Streamlining workflows for staff, volunteers, and fosters

  • Expanding partnerships and community presence

Why It Matters

This work allows us to serve more animals, support more families, and build a model that can continue to grow responsibly over time.

It’s not always the most visible work—but it’s what makes everything else possible.

At a Glance

We believe transparency matters – Not just where resources go, but why.

The story of MARS is still being written.
What began as a year of foundation became a year of growth.
Now, we’re focused on strengthening what we’ve built so we can continue serving more animals, more sustainably, in the years ahead.
Thank you for being part of that work.
